Embarking on our spiritual journey towards our divine calling, we quickly realize that the path is rarely smooth or straight. In fact, obstacles along this path are not just possible, but inevitable. These obstacles can take many forms and come from various directions, testing our resilience, faith, and determination.
External challenges often present themselves as tangible hurdles in our environment. These could be unsupportive people, societal expectations, financial constraints, or even time limitations. They may seem to obstruct our path, impede our progress, or even compel us to question whether we are on the right path at all.
However, not all challenges are physical or visible. Internal doubts can be equally, if not more, paralyzing. Fear of failure, imposter syndrome, feelings of unworthiness, or uncertainty about our calling can create a turmoil within us. These internal conflicts often form a formidable barrier on our journey.
Moreover, our journey towards our divine calling is also interspersed with spiritual trials. These are the tests of our faith and commitment to our calling. They push us to our limits, challenge our beliefs, and force us to lean on God and trust His wisdom and timing, even when it doesn’t align with our understanding or expectations.
But, here’s the beautiful and transformative part of these obstacles – they are not placed on our path to deter or defeat us. Instead, they serve a divine purpose. Each challenge is an opportunity for growth and transformation, refining our character, and shaping us into the person God wants us to be. They are the refining fires that mold us, preparing us to step into and fully embrace the destiny God has planned for us.
In this sense, obstacles become an essential part of our journey, not the barriers. They are the trials that test and reveal the strength of our faith, the clarity of our purpose, and the courage of our actions. So, as we face these obstacles, we do so knowing that they are stepping stones, not stumbling blocks, on our path to our divine calling.
External Challenges
The world presents myriad challenges that can veer us off our spiritual path. Yet, we can overcome them through perseverance and faith. As James 1:12 says, “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
Internal Doubts
Doubts and fears can often be our greatest stumbling blocks. They arise from within and can cloud our perception of our divine calling. We can overcome them through prayer, meditation, and standing on God’s promises, as affirmed in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Spiritual Trials
Spiritual trials test our faith and commitment to our divine calling. They force us to look beyond our human understanding and trust in God’s wisdom. By relying on His strength, we can weather any storm, as Paul states in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
