Spirit-Led Methodology
You Have Seen What Unforgiveness
Does to a Person
It shows up everywhere. In the client who describes their life as stuck. In the ministry leader who is exhausted and cannot name why. In the congregation member who is spiritually present but emotionally unavailable. In the person who has been told to “just forgive and move on” — and has tried, and cannot.
The need for skilled, biblically grounded forgiveness coaching is one of the most urgent and least-served needs in the Christian community. And the coaches, pastors, and helping professionals who want to meet that need are often working with nothing more than good intentions and a handful of scripture passages.
“I’ve tried to forgive but I keep thinking about it. I must have done it wrong.”
“My pastor told me to forgive. I know I should. But I genuinely cannot.”
“I forgave years ago. So why does it still control me?”
“I don’t want to forgive — because if I do, it means what they did was okay.”
These are not small moments. They are the gateway to some of the deepest healing God does in a human life. And they deserve a guide who knows exactly what to say — and what not to.
This Certification Was Built
for You — If You Recognize Yourself Here
Coaches Seeking a Specialty
You are already certified as a life, leadership, or Christian coach and want to add a high-demand specialty that serves a deep and persistent need in your client base.
Pastors and Ministry Leaders
You sit with people carrying unforgiveness regularly — and you want practical, biblically grounded tools that go beyond encouragement and into genuine facilitation of the forgiveness process.
Christian Helping Professionals
You work in a helping capacity — counseling support, social work, chaplaincy, women’s or men’s ministry — and want tools that stay within your scope while serving the whole person.
Those Called to This — Period
You have no formal coaching background yet. You simply know that God has put something in you around forgiveness — and you are ready to be trained in how to do it well.
This Is Not Secular Coaching
with a Scripture Tag
Most forgiveness frameworks — even well-intentioned Christian ones — ask clients to find within themselves what can only come from God. The HIScoach methodology starts somewhere different. And that changes everything.

HIScoach Founder
Meet Dr. Nanette
Floyd Patterson
Dr. Nanette Floyd Patterson, CPsy.D., LCMHC is the Founder and Lead Trainer of HIScoach Training Academy — and one of the most distinctive voices in Christian coaching today. Her work sits at the intersection of biblical truth, clinical training, and genuine Spirit-dependence — and her approach to forgiveness coaching reflects all three.
As a licensed clinical mental health counselor and a certified Christian coach, Dr. Patterson brings a rare dual perspective to forgiveness coaching: she understands both the clinical complexity of unforgiveness and the spiritual reality that no framework, technique, or coaching methodology can accomplish what only the Holy Spirit can do.
The Certified Christian Forgiveness Coach certification was built from the ground up as an all-original curriculum — every lesson, every coaching tool, every prayer, and every question in the question bank reflects her years of working with clients across the full spectrum of forgiveness challenges. This is not adapted from someone else’s framework. This is the work.
She built this certification because she saw the need — and because she believes that equipped, Spirit-led forgiveness coaches are one of the most powerful agents of healing available to the Church today.
What Students and Clients
Experience
“I finally have a framework for the most common thing I encounter as a pastor — people who are stuck in unforgiveness — and I know exactly what to do and what not to do.”
— Pastor and HIScoach Graduate
“I have been coaching for six years. This is the first training that actually taught me what to do when a client says ‘I cannot forgive.’ I now have five specific steps and I know what to say at every one of them.”
— Certified Coach and Graduate
“The personal work this certification required of me was as transforming as the professional training. I came in thinking I had my forgiveness journey handled. I learned I had more work to do — and I did it.”
— Ministry Leader and Graduate

Frequently Asked
Questions
No. This certification is designed for coaches, pastors, ministry leaders, and Christian helping professionals — not licensed therapists. The program includes a full module on scope of practice, including exactly where the coaching lane ends and when to refer to a licensed clinician. You will leave with complete clarity about what you are and are not equipped to do — and complete confidence in the lane where you are fully equipped.
The program is entirely self-paced. The recommended rhythm is one module per week, which means most students complete the certification in 12 to 13 weeks. You can move faster — or take longer if life requires it. The content is yours and you access it at your own pace. There is no expiration on your enrollment.
Upon completion of any track — Home Study, Virtual, or Onsite — you receive the Certified Christian Forgiveness Coach credential from HIScoach Training Academy. All three tracks cover the same complete 12-module curriculum and lead to the same certification. The difference between tracks is the learning format and level of live interaction with Dr. Patterson, not the credential you receive.
The biblical foundation is the methodology — not a decoration added to secular coaching techniques. The program opens with the Greek word aphiemi, roots the entire forgiveness framework in Scripture, includes a full scripture toolkit of 21 passages with coaching application, and the HIScoach approach specifically identifies the Holy Spirit — not the client’s willpower — as the primary agent of transformation. This is not “Christian-flavored.” This is entirely Christian in its foundation and approach.
This program is one of the strongest additions you can make to an existing coaching practice. Forgiveness issues show up in virtually every coaching niche — leadership, relationships, health, purpose. Having a specific, biblically grounded framework and a recognized credential for forgiveness coaching adds significant depth and differentiation to your existing practice. The content will immediately upgrade how you handle the forgiveness dimension in every coaching engagement you currently conduct.
The certification is designed to be accessible to students at all levels of coaching experience. Module 9 covers the full coaching arc, session structure, intake process, and how to facilitate a client from the first session through completion — with annotated coaching dialogues you can study, model, and adapt. If you are new to coaching, you will leave with a complete framework. If you are experienced, you will leave with a powerful specialty.
