Have you ever noticed how God works in unexpected ways? When the Father spontaneously gives you a task, it’s because He has identified a need in that season. It may not have been on your agenda, but it was always on His. I’ve experienced this personally—moments where God dropped something in my spirit that wasn’t in my plans, and through these experiences, I’ve learned that pausing and shifting isn’t just beneficial; it’s necessary.
The Divine Dance of Flexibility
As Holy Spirit-led coaches, we must remain sensitive to God’s divine interruptions. Sometimes, what appears to be a detour is actually a divine appointment carefully orchestrated by our loving Father. These moments challenge us to practice what I call “Surrendered Flexibility”—the willingness to release our plans and trust His.
Biblical Wisdom on Divine Direction
The Scripture offers us profound wisdom about this dance between our plans and God’s direction:
“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” – Proverbs 16:9 (ESV)
This verse beautifully captures the relationship between our initiative and God’s sovereignty. While we may chart our course, the Lord ultimately guides our path.
“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.” – Isaiah 30:21 (ESV)
This promise reminds us that God is actively involved in our direction, providing real-time guidance as we navigate our journey.
Trust and Transform
When we trust His timing and direction, we position ourselves to be powerful instruments in His hands. By staying open and obedient, we create space for God to move through us in ways that often exceed our original plans.
Your Turn to Reflect
What’s something God has asked you to shift toward recently? Take a moment to consider how this “interruption” might actually be an invitation to something greater than what you had planned.
Remember, our greatest ministry opportunities often come wrapped in unexpected packages. Stay sensitive to His voice, remain flexible in your plans, and watch in wonder as He unfolds His perfect purposes through your surrendered life.
