Forgiveness Coach
You know someone is imprisoned by a wound they cannot release. You feel the call to help. This certification gives you the biblical foundation, the Spirit-led methodology, and the practical tools to actually do it.
You Have Seen What Unforgiveness
Does to a Person
It shows up everywhere. In the client who describes their life as stuck. In the pastor who is spiritually present but cannot reach the one carrying a 20-year wound. In the person who has been told to "just forgive and move on" — and has tried, sincerely, and cannot.
The need for skilled, biblically grounded forgiveness coaching is one of the most urgent and least-served needs in the Christian community. And the people called to meet that need often have nothing more than good intentions and a handful of scripture passages.
"I've tried to forgive but I keep thinking about it. I must have done it wrong."
"My pastor told me to forgive. I know I should. But I genuinely cannot."
"I forgave years ago. So why does it still control me?"
"I don't want to forgive — because if I do, it means what they did was okay."
These are not small moments. They are the gateway to some of the deepest healing God does in a human life. And they deserve a guide who knows exactly what to say — and what not to.
Built for Anyone Called
to This
Coaches Seeking a Specialty
You are already certified in life, leadership, or Christian coaching and want to add a high-demand specialty that meets a deep and persistent need in your clients.
Pastors and Ministry Leaders
You sit with people carrying unforgiveness regularly — and you want practical, biblically grounded tools that go beyond encouragement and into genuine facilitation of the process.
Christian Helping Professionals
You work in chaplaincy, ministry, or a helping capacity and want tools that stay within your scope while serving the whole person.
Those Called — Period
No formal coaching background yet. You simply know that God has put something in you around forgiveness work — and you are ready to be properly trained and equipped.
This Is Not Secular Coaching
with a Scripture Tag
Most forgiveness frameworks — even well-intentioned Christian ones — ask clients to find within themselves what can only come from God. The HIScoach methodology starts somewhere different. And that changes everything.

Meet Dr. Nanette
Floyd Patterson
Dr. Nanette Floyd Patterson, CPsy.D., LCMHC is the Founder and Lead Trainer of HIScoach Training Academy — and one of the most distinctive voices in Christian coaching today. Her work sits at the intersection of biblical truth, clinical training, and genuine Spirit-dependence.
As a licensed clinical mental health counselor and a certified Christian coach, Dr. Patterson brings a rare perspective to forgiveness coaching: she understands both the clinical complexity of unforgiveness and the spiritual reality that no framework or technique can accomplish what only the Holy Spirit can do.
The Certified Christian Forgiveness Coach certification was built from the ground up as an all-original curriculum — every lesson, every coaching tool, every prayer, and every question in the question bank reflects her years of working with clients across the full spectrum of forgiveness challenges. This is not adapted from someone else's framework. This is the work.
What Students Experience
"I finally have a framework for the most common thing I encounter as a pastor — people stuck in unforgiveness — and I know exactly what to do and what not to do."
— Pastor and HIScoach Graduate"I have been coaching for six years. This is the first training that actually taught me what to do when a client says 'I cannot forgive.' I now have five specific steps and I know what to say at every one."
— Certified Coach and Graduate"The personal work this certification required of me was as transforming as the professional training. I came in thinking I had my forgiveness journey handled. I learned I had more to do — and I did it."
— Ministry Leader and GraduateChoose the Track

Frequently Asked
Questions
No. This certification is designed for coaches, pastors, ministry leaders, and Christian helping professionals — not licensed therapists. The program includes a full module on scope of practice, including exactly where the coaching lane ends and when to refer to a licensed clinician. You will leave with complete clarity about what you are and are not equipped to do.
The program is entirely self-paced. The recommended rhythm is one module per week — most students complete in 12 to 13 weeks. You can move faster or take longer if life requires it. There is no expiration on your enrollment.
Upon completion you receive the Certified Christian Forgiveness Coach credential from HIScoach Training Academy. The credential reflects the same complete 12-module curriculum regardless of the track you choose.
The biblical foundation is the methodology — not a decoration added to secular techniques. The program opens with the Greek word aphiemi, roots the entire framework in Scripture, includes a scripture toolkit of 21 passages with coaching application, and the HIScoach approach identifies the Holy Spirit — not the client's willpower — as the primary agent of transformation. This is not Christian-flavored. This is entirely Christian in its foundation and approach.
This is one of the strongest additions you can make to an existing coaching practice. Forgiveness issues show up in virtually every coaching niche — leadership, relationships, health, purpose. Having a specific, biblically grounded framework and a recognized credential for forgiveness coaching adds significant depth and differentiation to your practice.
The certification is accessible at all experience levels. Module 9 covers the full coaching arc, session structure, intake process, and how to facilitate a client from the first session through completion — with annotated coaching dialogues you can study, model, and adapt. If you are new to coaching, you will leave with a complete framework. If you are experienced, you will leave with a powerful specialty.
